Spencer Sutherland Releases Video for “It May Sound Strange”

    By Dom VigilAugust 1, 2019

Soulful pop singer-songwriter, Spencer Sutherland, has unveiled the official music video for his song, “It May Sound Strange,” today. The visual is complete with scenic views of Southern California and pays tribute to his girlfriend, actress Madison Iseman.

“‘It May Sound Strange’ is a love letter. It’s basically an intimate and truthful statement that I hope people can connect with and relate to,” Spencer explains.

The track is also the closing song on his debut EP, NONE of this has been about you (March 2019 via BMG), which has racked up over five million total global streams. Watch the video now below.

Spencer’s first national headline run across North America, “The Freaking Out Tour,”kicks off next week on August 7 in Seattle. The new batch of dates serves as a follow up to his massive spring tour with Jack & Jack that hit major cities including Atlanta, New York, Boston, Toronto, and Chicago, to name a few. Tickets to all shows are on sale now and can be purchased HERE. Spencer will also be heading back to his hometown of Columbus, Ohio on August 18 to support Lizzo at Express Live for WNCI’s Summer In The City Festival. Fans can grab tickets to the event HERE.

“I’ve always dreamed of touring the country and playing my own music to my own crowds no matter the size, and I’m so lucky to get to live my dream,” says Spencer. “Also, to open for such a cool and groundbreaking artist like Lizzo is something so special. I know it’s going be a fun and crazy show,” he adds.

Spencer kicked off 2019 with the release of his debut effort, NONE of this has been about you. The five-track EP is an introspective journey that spotlights his signature tone and falsetto, reminiscent of the 60s with stripped-down 80s-inspired production. Listeners can hear traces of his major influences on the record, ranging from Marvin Gaye and Bruno Mars, to Prince, Elvis, and The Temptations. Spencer’s honest and relatable approach to lyrics, in tandem with his powerful live performances, culminate in what is being lauded as a fresh new sound in pop.

Spencer is currently working in the studio and will be releasing new music later this year. Stay tuned for more news to come.
