Gothic pop songstress Kailee Morgue has dropped “Black Sheep”—a fan favorite cover at her live shows—today! The track, originally written and recorded by Metric, was featured on the soundtrack for 2010’s indie cult classic film, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which coincidentally was released 9 years ago this year. Kailee teamed up with producer Dylan Brady (The Neighbourhood’s Jesse Rutherford, Lil West, Tony Velour), who she previously collaborated with on her song “F**k U.”
Of the song, Kailee says, “I actually covered ‘Black Sheep’ on tour because I always loved that scene in Scott Pilgrim, and I wanted to recreate that even down to Brie Larson’s movements! It was always the craziest part of my set so I decided to make a studio version to share that feeling with everyone, I can’t wait to perform it again!”
Earlier this year, Kailee teamed up with Hayley Kiyoko for her breakout hit “Headcase,” an empowering queer pop power anthem featuring a sample of Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” The song received praise from Billboard, MTV, TIME, NYLON, PAPER Magazine, UPROXX, Stereogum, Idolator, Ones To Watch, EARMILK and more.
Stay tuned for more new music from Kailee Morgue this fall!
