Lowen has released a new wistful video for “Only In My Dreams,” the title track off of her forthcoming EP, out October 25. Both the song and its accompanying video embodies the way a dream feels, surrounded by indistinguishable off the wall visuals which Lowen refers to as “Avatar meets Tame Impala Light Show meets bizarre dream.”
On the new single, Lowen shares, “‘Only In My Dreams‘ is about accessing that dreamlike place where you get to spend time with someone who may not be here anymore physically. It’s about longing for those moments when it feels like you get to meet up with them somewhere in the ether.”
The video follows Lowen’s first release, “Morning, Mourning,” a tear-jerking confessional telling the story of her attempts to balance her emotions while experiencing both the happiest moment in her life (meeting and falling in love with her now wife) and the two most painful moments (outgrowing her first love of 8 years, then facing the grief of his untimely death shortly after). Lowen’s candidly-charged lyrics builds throughout the track, eventually erupting into an immensely-expressive and heartbreaking outpour of emotion, driven by the swells and pure power of her vocals.
For Lowen the journey to her debut release will become a reality when she gathers with friends and industry family to celebrate the release of Only in my Dreams with a pair of launch parties in New York City (September 30at Arlene’s Grocery; RSVP) and Nashville (October 26 at Analog at Hutton Hotel; RSVP). Gaining notoriety touring throughout North America, Emily Kopp often felt hopeless and lost in the industry. After a brief hiatus filled with personal highs and lows, Emily Is now planted in Nashville, TN, feeling truly awakened and inspired once again. For the past year, Lowen has been writing and finding her own voice. Creating music that is truer to herself than ever before.
