This spring, British/Irish folk-rock band, The Waterboys released their new album, Where The Action Is via Cooking Vinyl and earlier this month, they kicked off a run of North American shows in support of the album. Not only will the band be bringing a ton of new songs along on these upcoming shows, but they are also their first U.S. performances since 2015, making for an exciting and long-awaited performance.
The Waterboys will be bringing their live show to The Gothic Theatre in Denver, CO on October 1st, 2019. Tickets are available now HERE.
Where The Action Is is a 10-song, genre-defying album, and a testament to the enduring talents of the band’s founder and frontman Mike Scott. One of the finest British songwriters of the past four decades, his songs have been covered and/or recorded by artists including Prince, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Steve Earle, and Ellie Goulding who had a number three hit in 2013 with “How Long Will I Love You.”
Scott is well known for his radical changes in music genres throughout what he refers to as his “allegedly unorthodox” career. As the Associated Press notes in their review of the recent album, “There are swinging salutes to R&B, and mashups bridging genres and generations. Scott pairs hip-hop verses with a Beatles-style chorus on the sunny ‘Take Me There I Will Follow You,’ and he puts 18th century lyrics to a 21st century rhythm track on ‘Then She Made the Lasses O.’”
