Buzzing Los Angeles songstress Shaylen has dropped the video for “Sorry,” the latest offering from her debut EP Highs And Lows. The song was produced by Keith Varon (Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Zara Larsson) and Boston.
Of the inspiration behind the track, Shaylen says “‘Sorry’” is very personal to me. It’s all about my struggle with addiction and overcoming it and being honest with myself and the ones I loved. The busyness and chaos of the city felt appropriate to how I was feeling at that time in my life and gave the exact vibe of where I wanted to film the video.”
“Sorry” is the follow up to Shaylen’s lead track off of Highs And Lows, “Own Way,” produced by legendary producer Jonas Jeberg [Selena Gomez, Panic! At The Disco]. Popdust recently praised her debut project saying, “Highs and Lows is a brief but colorful collection of songs that each depict a different stage of Shaylen’s career thus far,” while Hollywood Life, Just Jared, Idolator and others also hailed Shaylen as one to watch.
Hailing from Dallas, TX, vocalist and songwriter Shaylen is both equal parts veteran and neophyte to the music industry. A former pop group member turned solo star, Shaylen became classically trained in piano and took master classes at the world renowned Septien Entertainment Group (home to other superstars like Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato); and after a short-lived stunt in a successful global touring group Shaylen found herself moving to Los Angeles to re-start her music career. While working multiple jobs and pushing out her music on social media, she began to create a sizable buzz in the industry. But it was through her songwriting and producing skills that she found her true identity, inking a publishing contract and collaborating with up and coming EDM producers on Soundcloud. Fast forward to a major deal with Republic Records and the release of several breakout singles, this is the story of a rising powerhouse who is back…for the very first time.
