Prince Edward Island indie pop quartet Paper Lions have released their new album Stay Together, available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all DSPs worldwide. The album was produced by guitarist Colin Buchanan, and is their first full-length effort since 2016’s Full Colour.
“Staying together isn’t always easy and like any relationship, there are moments when you have to fight for it,” the band explains. “We’ve been a band for 15 years and we’ve done our share of fighting, but making “Stay Together” was more about surrender and acceptance. I think the four of us feel more comfortable in our own skin, inside and outside of the band and as a result, we wrote a record that isn’t as concerned with fitting a specific ‘theme’. There are elements of each record we’ve made that show up on “Stay Together”. The scrappy pop/rock of our “Trophies EP”, the bittersweet nostalgia on “My Friends” and the exuberant pop we explored on our last record Full Colour. While we didn’t set out to do this, “Stay Together” really represents all the different aspects of our band.”
Paper Lions has been a model of independent music success since their inception in 2004. From amassing millions of streams, to landing several syncs with various NBC & ABC network shows, to finding themselves in Billboard’s Top 10 chart for fastest growing artists in the world, the band has reached milestones that most artists never will. With Stay Together, the band has created an album that celebrates their history as a band, remembering their dreams from the early days, when they started making rock’n’roll.
