Connecticut’s Cast In Blood and Delaware’s Foreign Hands joined forces to release their turbulent split EP titled Lapsed Requiems via Unbeaten Records. The four-track EP was born out of a mutual appreciation for each other’s chaotic 90’s style metalcore. The split shows just how fruitful the underground is right now and introduces two of the most volatile acts bubbling under the surface. The pairing fits well with their start-and-stop riffing while expertly building off of the contrasts they each create within their own songs. Stream the new EP today and keep an eye out for physical pre-orders coming from Unbeaten Records soon.
Cast in Blood began as a side project in Connecticut, spawned by members of Enraged Youth, Jagged Visions and Laid 2 Rest. After dropping a home-recorded demo in 2016 they released their first full length, Consumed to Ashes, the following year. The band explores esoteric, occult driven themes lyrically through a unique lens of revenge and rebirth. A welcomed chance to collaborate and combine forces with Foreign Hands, the new EP is a window into the abyss of Cast In Blood’s inspirations and also a foreshadowing of works in progress. Undergoing two lineup changes, the band is currently comprised of members of 100 Demons, Buried Dreams, Jagged Visions, Vomit Forth, Dilate and Murmur.
While just a few states away, Delaware-based band Foreign Hands has been making a name for themselves since putting out their promo tape in the spring of 2018. They’re known for their high energy live performances, heartfelt lyrical content, and their chaotic sound that blends melodic passages with technicality and heaviness. The two songs contained on Lapsed Requiems showcase the band’s willingness to push their boundaries while still staying true to their own brand of authentic, fast, and heavy hardcore.
