Miami-based shredders, DeGreaser, have released the wild new video for their latest track, “Florida Man”. The video opens on an idyllic beach but quickly takes a turn for the worst when the deranged “Florida Man” tears into the scene as well as his victim. The definitive ode to frontman Ben Katzman’s home state, “Florida Man” is a hard-hitting, punk anthem that warns the listener of the dangers that await them in the sunshine state. With searing guitars, gut-punch vocals, and an ecstatic sax solo, DeGreaser delivers yet another acid-trip postcard from the depths of America’s collective unconscious by way of a dizzying mix of derangement, bath salts and the good ol’ aspirational spirit of the mythical “Florida Man.” Watch the new video on YouTube and stream the track on Spotify.
Ben Katzman had this to say about the new video:
“Florida is the land of insanity that was once was cut off from the outside world. If it weren’t for the insanity of the face-eating, crocodile stealing, power partying people of this great state, Florida might have never made the mainstream map at all! Florida is packed with ssik bands and ssik people and I just hope people start to realize how awesome this tropical wasteland is. This video is my tribute to the waves Florida has made in the last few years, from gnarly alligators to ssik rock shows. It ain’t just the home to Disney World, Florida Man 4 Lyf!”
While bandleader Ben Katzman is also known for running BUFU Records (Tall Juan, Free Pizza, Japanther) and his role in the seminal psych-art band, Guerilla Toss, DeGreaser is the centerpiece of his impressive creative portfolio. Over the course of its existence, the pop-metal outfit has grown an impressive following for its dynamic songwriting, diary entry-like songwriting and a diverse range of expertise in the worlds of astrology, shredding, and self-improvement.
DeGreaser have packed landmark venues across the United States as they’ve toured alongside acts such as Mannequin Pussy, Colleen Green and Tall Juan. Their sponsorship with Volcom has extended to tours with many of their top surfers and skaters, as well as, some of the legendary surf brand’s gnarliest content. The band’s 2018 release, the Colleen Green produced full-length Quarter Life Crisis, was met with both critical acclaim and uncompromising fan support. It tells the no-nonsense journey of your twenties through universally relatable titles such as “Too Old for Retail” and “Cool Point’s Don’t Pay The Rent”. As Katzman prepares DeGreaser’s upcoming astrology album for the Starburns Industries Label (Rick and Morty, Anomalisa), DeGreaser is hitting the road and bringing the dreaded Florida Man with them.
