London duo, Nova Twins, will release their first album ‘Who Are The Girls?’ on FEVER 333’s groundbreaking new artist collective, 333 WRECKORDS CREW on February 28th, 2020.
Fast becoming trailblazers in their own right, Nova Twins use their platform to champion inclusivity and diversity with a high-octane, genre-warping approach; one that is present in every song they write and every performance they deliver. Turning heads in all of their endeavors, the duo creates a remarkable depth of sound via a myriad of bass and guitar pedals – a secret recipe they have tweaked and refined over the years, whilst dogmatically avoiding any synthesizers in the process. Innovative in not only their musical output but in every element of what they do as artists, from designing and making their own outfits for all photoshoots and stage-wear to the art direction of their music videos. The band are above all, strong, independent and inspiring women. Their modus operandi is to take socio-political experiences from their day-to-day and turn it into something their fans can get lost in.
“’Who Are The Girls?’ is dedicated to all the people who are beautifully diverse and creating their own lanes. It’s a celebration of those who feel like they don’t fit in! The title is ironic, as there is little representation of diversity at the shows we play and there wasn’t any to see when we were growing up”, says Amy Love and Georgia South (Nova Twins). “Our audience have been our biggest supporters, encouraging the creativity and ideas behind the album. It’s amazing to finally be able to translate our live sound onto an LP, so that everyone who wants to can join in the madness! We feel 333 WRECKORDS is the perfect home (massive love to Jason of FEVER 333 for inviting us into their family). We can only hope that this album empowers people the way they have empowered us. This one’s for all our Supernovas, keep shining bright!”
Jason Aalon Butler (FEVER 333 / 333 WRECKORDS CREW) says, “The whole idea of the 333 WRECKORDS CREW is to offer a creative alternative to the banal structure of the music industry as well as supporting and propagating art that challenges. Nova Twins are literally the embodiment of this idea. Two BLACK WOMEN in rock music twisting the convention of a genre whose only chance of survival is to evolve; Nova Twins are that evolution. Nova Twins are the future. They are so damn important to this music and to the culture and I’m gonna make sure people see that. I couldn’t be more proud to announce them as the newest addition of creatives to the crew.”
‘Who Are The Girls?’ a 10 track joyride into the Nova sound, was recorded with legendary producer Jim Abbiss (Adele, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys) at his studio, Lime Green Monkeys. Former singles ‘Devil’s Face’ and ‘Vortex’ (which received spins from Annie Mac, heralding the Nova Twins as her “New Name” and Sophie K at BBC Radio 1, whilst being playlisted on Kerrang! Radio and getting chosen as Single Of The Week by John Kennedy at Radio X) stomp alongside the futuristic “Taxi”, rave banger “Undertaker” and the relentlessly powerful “Play Fair”, with the ethereal “Ivory Tower” showcasing their unparalleled sonic diversity amongst others.

The weight and crushing defiance behind Georgia South’s bass alongside the sheer force in Amy Love’s vocals and guitar work, both channeling their bass and guitar through a mystifying combination of effects pedals, are what drives the Nova Twins sound. Refusing to conform to any template, the duo fuse bass-heavy, grimey punk, taking inspiration from artists as divergent in style as N.E.R.D., The Prodigy, Betty Davis, Missy Elliott and New York Dolls. As such, the best friends have turned rock on its head, injecting their songs with boundless energy, barely controlled rage and heavy riffs. Always dressed head-to-toe in designs they’ve made themselves, Nova Twins are capturing a unique moment in time with their genre-bending methods, capturing fans of all demographics with a riotous attitude and boundless resilience.
When you’ve never seen yourself in music, there’s an opportunity to build something from nothing. To make tracks that don’t sound directly like anyone else’s. “We had to work out our own identities within music because we never had a reflection,” says Georgia South, Nova Twins bassist. “This is a 21st-century take on rock. It’s so many things.” Singer and guitarist Amy Love adds with a smile, “It’s the NOVA sound.”
Over the summer, the band turned heads when they performed to packed tents during the busy festival season, stopping at Open Air Gampel, Boomtown, Download, Hellfest and Nova Rock to name a few. Following the success of support slots with Wolf Alice and Ho99o9, the duo were invited on tour with Prophets Of Rage, smashing it every night across Europe and the UK. Soon after, they were off supporting legends Skunk Anansie, before their own sold out headline UK tour.
2019 saw Nova Twins awarded The International Showcase Fund and the PRS Momentum Music Fund, which has helped artists such as Little Simz, Boston Manor and Years & Years, as well as scoring features in NME, The Guardian and Love Magazine to name a few. Champions of a truly DIY ethic and aesthetic, Amy and Georgia also caught the eye of Dr. Martens, who made them the face of their 2019 A/W Campaign – you may have already spotted them on posters and in-stores around the world!
