Alternative songsmith Mondo Cozmo has released a music video for his latest single “Generator,” out now on Last Gang Records. The track, which originally made its debut on the ABC television drama The Good Doctor, features a lush soundscape complemented by an emotional outcry as singer Josh Ostrander belts out “generator, I’ve been waiting, come release me.” The visual accompaniment for the track was filmed in Ostrander’s home and focuses in on his silhouette, harkening back to the style of vintage, grayscale films. To coincide with the release of the video, Mondo Cozmo has announced a run of headlining shows in March 2020, hitting the Northeastern U.S. These join his already announced February shows in California and you can find a full list of tour dates below. Tickets for all east coast dates* will be on sale on December 13th at 10 AM EST here and you can watch the video for “Generator” here now.
On making the video, Josh Ostrander stated:
“I shot the ‘Generator’ video in my guest bedroom. I spent $98.41 on lights and shit to make it this colorful thing but it looked dumb so I used 1 light behind me and shot it in black and white on my phone. I burned Palo Santo wood for the smoke and my room still smells like it. I think ‘Generator’ is one of the better songs I’ve ever written and it’s very personal to me, so it felt fitting to shoot the video by myself in the room I recorded it in.”
Ostrander has also announced the third episode of the Mondo Cozmo Radio Show in partnership with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum. This upcoming installment of the podcast centers around the holiday season, simply titled “A Mondo Cozmo Bluegrass Christmas.” Filled with Christmas tunes and special guests, the show brings together a family vibe and will be available to stream here on December 16th.
Mondo Cozmo is currently working on his forthcoming sophomore album, aided and abetted by friends and family, including producer Butch Vig, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dan Wilson, Lars Stalfors and others.
