Lusting for blood (and a whole lot more), pop’s hottest button pusher GIA WOODS spins a ravenous revenge fantasy in her new single and music video “HUNGRY.” Watch the video now below.
Somewhere between Spring Breakers and Heathers, the songstress menaces in the most wonderful way possible over the course of the sexy, slick, and spirited the visual. She slips from slinking down a stripper pole in glittery diamond lingerie to donning a red ski mask and cheerleader outfit (with GIA embroidered on it) as she exacts a murderous plot.
“I don’t want to be defined by one type of style,” she says in regards to the clip. “My style changes all the time so I wanted to pick three different characters to explore different sides of myself.”
Beyond this slice of seductive pulp fiction, the song itself teeters between grunge-y production and sultry vocals. It climaxes on an empowering command, “If you got bad taste, don’t go shoving it down my throat…I’m not hungry bitch. Leave me alone.” The distorted synths escalate towards a hypnotic hook as she once again asserts her position as pop’s most rebellious outlier.
Of the track, Gia also comments, “‘HUNGRY’ was inspired by shutting down unsolicited outside opinions and trusting your own intuition. It’s an anthem of independence, and I hope it empowers people to take control, trust their instincts, and do their own thing.”
“HUNGRY” sets the tone for 2020, and comes on the heels of a career-defining 2019, as she was celebrated for pure pop provocation by i-D Mag, Ones To Watch, Billboard, PAPER Mag, and fans worldwide.
Be on the lookout for the next hit from GIA as she continues her rise on her own– sparing no prisoners…
