Brooklyn-based singer-songwriters Claud and Del Water Gap have released their new collaborative single “My Body” today via The Orchard. CLICK HERE to listen to the track, which the friends co-wrote and co-produced together. The single and its official music video premiered exclusively on NYLON, who described the track as an “intimate and bittersweet ballad… a loving creation made between two friends who clearly know each other well.” The pair previously co-wrote Claud’s 2018 standout single “Never Meant To Call” that has surpassed 2 million streams to date and received critical acclaim.
On the inspiration behind their latest collaboration, the duo shares, “‘My Body’ is the outcome of a hot July day in the studio. The song wrote itself in a couple hours. Claud calls it ‘creative puke.’ To the average listener, it’s a heavy story told though a blanket of autotune, but to us it’s a light hearted jaunt and a funny take on our friendship that started when we wrote ‘Never Meant To Call’ a year ago in Brooklyn.”
Claud is the solo project of Claud Mintz. After releasing their debut EP that was made out of their college dorm room under the name Toast with Terrible Records, Claud dropped out of college to pursue music full time. Following a quick stint in Los Angeles to be closer to family, they soon relocated to New York City and their Sideline Star EP was born. The much-anticipated project came out of a dark period of transition and growth that ultimately resulted in Claud’s evolution as an artist and a 20-year-old closer to finding themselves and belonging.
The EP chronicles relationships, friendships and feelings of being an outsider amongst a massive transition through their tender pop anthems. They’ve since surpassed millions of streams and toured and played with the likes of The Neighbourhood, Bleachers, girl in red, The María’s, Clairo, Triathalon, and more.
Del Water Gap is the solo project of songwriter and producer S. Holden Jaffe, a New England native and the former face and ass of Pampers Diapers. Jaffe began recording in a converted storage closet at his boarding school in upstate New York, releasing a self-produced EP in 2012 that garnered him a spot at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Following his move to New York City, Del Water Gap grew from a bedroom project to a nationally touring band.
Jaffe has released a string of self-produced records, making his label debut in 2019 with the release of Don’t Get Dark under Terrible Records. The record caught the attention of NPR’s All Songs Considered, followed by a string of sold-out dates in New York and Los Angeles and a busy SXSW. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York and is inspired by “romantic encounters and dimly lit rooms.”
