After months of teasing music to fans, Five North has officially announced they will be releasing their debut EP Scumbag on March 6th via Big Noise. Fans can pre-save Scumbag now at https://ffm.to/fivenorthscumbag/.
Five North, made up of Tyler Posey, Kyle Murphy and Scott Eckel, came together through a series of chance meetings, friendships and a common love of music and skateboarding. With pop-punk and rock backing the influence and close friend John Feldmann behind the sound, this band takes a “no ceiling” approach to the writing process and end with songs that sound like “whatever the f**k we want”.
“Working with Feldy has been like a little dream all of us have had since we were kids. Growing up listening to his songs and finally being able to collaborate with the man himself has been crazy. All of us clicked with him, which made for a fun and spontaneous environment.”
On their forthcoming debut release, the band shares “These songs are very self-aware. They are a reflection of our own lives, connections with people and the realization that how you handle yourself within the ups and downs of it all is really what defines you as a person.”
Fans will have to wait until next Friday to hear this collection of tracks, but for now, they can check out lead single “This Mess” at https://ffm.to/thismess/. “This song captures a moment of extreme self doubt,” shares the band. “But also, that moment of coming out the other side and realizing that even the fucked up parts of life can have a silver lining.”
Their music video for “This Mess” plays more like a short film, directed by Jeremy Danger. “We were excited to create something that’s top tier, while also turning it into a joke and kind of making fun of ourselves. I think we captured that just nicely” shares Eckel on the music video, which fans can check out here.
