Brooklyn, by way of the Bay Area, songwriter/producer, Emmett Kai, revealed “Tiger Balm” today –  the third single in a string of gradually released new music he is unveiling over the first half of 2020. “Tiger Balm” is a summer anthem in the making, anchored by the upbeat tempos of his previous work and accented by laid-back, somber vocal melodies that serve as a perfect counterbalance. With each new single, Emmett continues to cement his position as a dynamic crafter of songs with an innate ability to conjure dynamic earworm hooks. One needs to look no further than the trio of tunes, he’s already released in 2020 – “Tiger Balm”, the gloomy-pop cut, “Remember My Name” and the ultra-infectious, “High For Weeks” – to see how special this young artist is. You can watch the official video for “Tiger Balm” here and the track is available to stream here.

Speaking on “Tiger Balm”, Emmett Kai says:

“Tiger Balm is a song dedicated to my imagination. Alexandra and I wanted to make a special video for this song, something that depicted imagination.”

Emmett has also announced his next live performance will be at The Sultan Room this April supporting Future Generations.

Over the first half of 2020, Emmett will be releasing new music, waterfall-style, eventually building into a larger release under a different name – allowing fans to witness the album gradually come together right in front of their eyes. In doing so, Emmett is embracing the new meaning of an “album” in the streaming age and taking advantage of the uniquely modern ability to create and adjust a project in real time.

Emmett’s mellow, soul-drenched earworms have been featured on the cult favorite TV show, Broad City, as well as by press tastemakers such as Dummy Magazine and Earmilk to name a few. Emmett’s past releases have also found their way onto KEXP’s radar and on playlists from David Dean Burkhart, BIRP.FM and countless others. The progress and ambition behind this latest collection of singles leaves no doubt that his best music is still ahead of him. Stay tuned for more over the coming months.
