Today, Ottawa punk trio ZIG MENTALITY lights up and releases their debut EP, THE SESH, via LAVA Records/Republic Records.
To celebrate the release, the band is set to perform a special THE SESH Release “Party” livestream today, May 1st at 4:20pm ET—fans can tune in via ZIG MENTALITY’s Instagram Live HERE.
THE SESH EP’s lead single “If You Ever” steamrolls forward on a riff and groove that spiral out into mosh pit-ready screams. The band kicks down the door with the opener “Sesh On,” which serves as something of a call-to-arms sounded by bold bass and overpowering guitars. Meanwhile, the fan favorite and final track “Pretty Girls On Bikes” revs up with its guttural attitude. See the full tracklisting below.
ZIG MENTALITY hit the studio with producers Sacha Skarbek and Florian Reutter and recorded THE SESH in Toronto’s The Orange Lounge Studio and their own basement.
Of the EP, ZIG MENTALITY says, “This is really just the ZIG MENTALITY ‘pilot episode.’ Mark this as the birth of the ZIG sound, a new flavor of rock. Let’s see what everyone thinks.”
ZIG MENTALITY consists of brothers Jig Dubé [bass, lead vocals], Liam Dubé [lead guitar] and Quinn Dubé [drums, backup vocals]. The band, formerly known as dubé, has received over four million streams across their catalogue to date. In 2017, they unleashed their independent debut single “Pretty Girls On Bikes,” which surpassed half-a-million Spotify streams. The 2018 single “Stoned Love” put up equally impressive numbers.
In between tours with the likes of COUNTERFEIT. and cleopatrick, ZIG MENTALITY graced the stage of Northern Invasion alongside icons, such as Tool and Alice In Chains. During 2019, the band inked a deal with LAVA Records and hit the studio with producers Sacha Skarbek and Florian Reutter to work on their debut release.
