Bay Area synth pop duo Meet Me in Orbit have released their new single “Letters,” available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music, and all DSPs worldwide. The track’s dreamy quality and poignant songwriting strikes a deep emotional chord for the listener, resonating with fans of Troye Sivan, The 1975, and CHVRCHES.
100% of the single proceeds will be donated to Campaign Zero, a police reform group that has been working on policy solutions informed by data and human rights principles.
“If Meet Me in Orbit is to have any voice in this moment, we believe that voice should be used in service of those that need, and deserve it most,” the duo says. “To that end, we’ll be donating every dollar we may make from this release to Campaign Zero to help advance the causes of social justice, racial equality, police accountability, and the important truth that black lives matter.”
“Letters” explores the darker side of nostalgia and purpose, and how the two can quickly turn to regret and burnout. “We wrote this song at the end of a hard year, where we were both balancing 9 to 5 jobs with writing, managing, and growing Meet Me in Orbit on our own,” the duo explains. “‘Letters’ is an intimate and honest song, spilling over with glossy synths and textures–it’s also one of our favorites.”
With their second EP, Elsewhere, MMO’s momentum continued as they brought their unique brand of synth-driven indie pop to live venues around the Bay Area. After several appearances at the popular Popscene live party, the two went onto headline the historic Bottom of the Hill venue in San Francisco, ultimately getting invited to play Live 105’s BFD music festival at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Meet Me in Orbit has shared the stage with many great artists, including Banners, Great Good Fine Okay, Morgxn, and others.
Meet Me in Orbit have continued to perfect their sound, releasing several singles and earning a feature in the promotional materials for HBO’s Westworld. With all of that behind them, however, this year is looking to be the most exciting one yet for MMO.
