The Bassrush Records crew have welcomed back back S9 (UK), who returns with a double-sided single by the name of “Collide / Together.”
After absolutely annihilating the dancefloor with their debut on Bassrush last year, “Defibrillator,” S9 make their way back into the frame with a menacing follow-up that arrives in the form of a wicked two-tracker. On the lead cut “Collide,” they dish out a rough, gritty beat that props up the hype lyrical prowess of MC Coppa. On the flipside, the duo ramps up the intensity with “Together,” a pummeling jump-up record meant to put bodies in motion.
“With both of us being huge fans of Coppa, it was a privilege to be able to work with him on ‘Collide,’” says S9. “We returned the favour by co-producing some tracks for his forthcoming E.P in September. Collide originally started as a rough instrumental called ‘Crawler,’ with the focus being the crawling bassline introduced on the first drop. But after receiving Marvin’s first draft vocal, we realized that we needed to come up with some extra aggression on a new second drop, which would really compliment the vocals and give the tune an extra dimension. These two drops then presented the idea for the name ‘Collide,’ as featured in Coppa’s verse: ‘ two worlds are colliding.’”
