Self-described diet punk band, Guardrail has signed to Richmond-based label Open Your Ears Records, and is thrilled to announce their new EP, Yikes. Though the EP is set to be released on September 25th, fans can hear the first single, “‘Til We’re Dead,” now below. Additionally, the band has announced that they will be donating a portion of sales in support of the Milwaukee Freedom Fund: bit.ly/mkefreedomfund.
“We’re getting older. It sucks,” the band shares on the new EP. “Is this really it? It feels like we’re missing something. Rather than a bright future, we inherited a broken planet and a broken system. We keep waiting for it to get better, but will it ever get better?”
Guardrail is a band from Chicago, IL consisting of Kevin Andrew (vocals), Ken Ugel (guitar), Alyssa Leassig (bass, vocals), and Doug Brand (drums). The band initially began calling themselves “diet punk” as a joke, but eventually they started to own it. They’re not exactly “punk” in the traditional sense, though it’s their biggest influence. They’re just here to sing happy songs about not-so-happy things, marinated in Jeppson’s Malört and positive energy.
The band’s new EP Yikes is set to be released on September 25, 2020 via Open Your Ears Records.
