After releasing a Shöckface Inversion to Lauren Martinez’s pop ballad ‘Superman’ in early October, Shöckface is back with Lauren and Belgian producer, LIHO for ‘im afraid to be sober’ out November 6th on Trap Nation’s imprint record label Lowly Palace.
Shöckface and LIHO aided by Lauren Martinez’s crooning vocals paint an eclectic array of ethereal soundscapes on ‘im afraid to be sober.’ LIHO and Shöckface begin the record with beautifully arranged hypnotic sounding notes that set the stage for a captivating and rhythmic audio experience. The breakdown is sprinkled with signature Shöckface ear candy like Shöckface’s signature dog barks as previously heard on 3001 VIP with DJ Ride. As the anthem nears the climax, Shöckface and LIHO infuse roaring basslines and glitchy synth work into a vibrant and dynamic string of sounds. Suddenly a calm collected chaos takes hold throughout the song with metallic sounding arpeggiators and rolling basslines taking the forefront of the record.
Shöckface’s raw and gritty experimental sound design imbued with LIHO’s futuristic style makes for the perfect creative collaboration between the uniquely distinct producers. The murky and darker side of sound provided by Shöckface tied in with LIHO’s bright sound design create an illustrious and never quite replicated composition of art.
