Night Mode is unveiling the next single from their forthcoming debut compilation, This Is Cyberpunk, tapping NEUNOSIEM for a galvanizing single called “Wait.”
NEUNOSIEM may still be considered an upstart by normal standards, the German-based producer hasn’t let his newcomer status slow him down in the slightest. With less than one year in operation, he’s already blown through a handful of releases that have allowed him to take his menacing house sound to labels from the likes of UFO Recordz, DIVERGE, DeepShine and more. His crunchy and carefully calculated cuts show him channeling the darker realms while tying in his affinity for eye-grabbing aesthetics and a vehemence for all things technology. These two prevalent themes are the threads running through his fast-growing catalog, weaving themselves through his corrosive grooves. For his label debut on Night Mode, he’s cutting into a different cloth, however, one that finds him taking on a new style altogether.
His new single “Wait” is an emotional midtempo number, drawing on a dualistic framework that splits between iridescent melodies and galvanizing bass. A heartsick vocal is searching for any semblance of validation, wallowing in the misery of a questionable counterpart while a broken beat guides along a glimmer of hope buried inside the fluffy arpeggiations. As the burning question “will you wait for me” starts to repeat itself, the inevitable answer arrives in the form of panic-struck basslines rolling through sharp synth stabs and mechanized tones resembling the onset of paralyzing inner turmoil. The topline makes a comeback during the breakdown, this time accompanied by high-pitched flute melodies making the uncertainty all the more dreadful. The soul-crushing beat sweeps in for a second round only to end things off with their fate left hanging in the balance.
