Capitol Records has released DeathbyRomy’s “Come and Play With Me,” a song she wrote and recorded for the Promising Young Woman: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which will be released on December 4.
In this Refinery29 feature, which accompanied the exclusive premiere of the song, DeathbyRomy talks about collaborating with Emerald Fennell, the film’s writer-director. Fennell also served as Executive Soundtrack Producer, teaming up with music supervisor Sue Jacobs and Capitol Records.
DeathbyRomy recalls, “Upon meeting Emerald we discovered we had a lot of similar music influences. For example, were both big NIN fans and when I learned her favorite songs of mine were my favorite deep cuts, I knew we were gonna work together beautifully.”

Deathby Romy wrote the track with Andy Rosen, who collaborated with her on Love u – to Death, her 2019 Capitol Records debut EP. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter pours both pain and euphoria into her catchy yet dark music, pitting electronic melodies and propulsive beats against hypnotic vocals and deeply personal lyrics. Her take on “It’s Raining Men” – the iconic No. 1 dance anthem originally released by The Weather Girls in 1982 – also appears on the soundtrack. Listen to “It’s Raining Men” HERE.
