Harlem-native singer, songwriter, and rapper MELII, also known as the Dominican Mami, is back at it again with the braggadocious and empowering new track “You Ain’t Worth It,” in collaboration with American rapper 6LACK. Listen to the song now below.

Once more, MELII proves that she’s the queen of the “ex anthems,” taking us on an emotional rollercoaster of self-discovery and realizing our own worth with her fiery verses and distinctive voice. Paired with the perfect collaborator, 6LACK, who is known for focusing his music on relationships and heartbreaks through vulnerable, honest, and moody lyrics, “You Ain’t Worth It” will be on repeat in every playlist.

“The reason I chose 6LACK was because the beat was very much his vibe,” MELII said about this duet. “I wanted somebody that would bring a chill-type of vibe but still spit in that shit.” The music video, which will be released the following week promises to be a visual throwback. “The song really gave me ‘90s vibes, and I thought it would be a cool idea to do that too in the video,” MELII shared.

Back in October, MELII surprised fans by showing off her signature spitfire lyricism in “Way Too Soft,” accompanied by a 007 and Scarface-inspired cinematic music video that has garnered almost 830K views on YouTube. Earlier this year, she made no qualms about making it clear that no one else can do it like her on “BDE” featuring fellow New York rapper Smoove’L, receiving recognition from XXL, Hot New Hip Hop, Complex, and more.

Last year, the rising artist shared her highly anticipated EP MOTIONS which features seven-tracks that showcased her unapologetic yet vulnerable songwriting that made her one of 2019’s most exciting breakout stars. The EP featured passionate singles “TM Interlude,” “No Hard Feelings,” and “Nena,” a Latin-flavored track that landed on the Alt.Latino Playlist from NPR (who praised MELII as “a master in the art of the concise call-out”).

The EP garnered recognition from Fader, Hot New Hip Hop, Complex, and more.
