Rising singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist YDE has returned with her brand new single “BlindLife” out now via Facet Records/Warner Records. Inspired by the chaos and turbulence of 2020, “BlindLife” provides an acute commentary on the present world we live in, as YDE calls out those who turn a blind eye to global issues such as racial injustice and climate change. The song was co-written with her frequent collaborators, esteemed songwriter Justin Tranter and Grammy-award winning duo Mattman & Robin. Marked by a vibrant bass melody and twinkling keyboards, “BlindLife” charges full speed ahead as YDE boldly declares, “Everything’s fine with me, honestly besides the world ending,” before announcing, “Here’s a song to sing, when everything is way worse than it seems.” All the while, sirens echo in the background, underscoring the song’s central apocalyptic theme.
“‘BlindLife’ is my end of the world anthem,” YDE says.
Earlier this fall, YDE made a striking debut with her single “Stopped Buying Diamonds” – a fierce and sarcastic apology that cemented her place as Gen Z’s modern rockstar. The song received acclaim from the likes of Billboard, Teen Vogue, and PAPER who stated that “YDE is a voice for her generation.” With more new music on the way, this is only the beginning for the budding young star.
