During the first week of 2020, Ekonovah took to social media to hint at some impending alterations he had in mind for his artistic vision. “I’ve been focused on making a new style, singing on my own tracks, playing more piano in these records, and making something that (I hope) will stand the test of time,” he writes. After locking himself away in the studio with this new agenda, the Arizona-based producer has emerged wielding a new two-track EP that signals to the dawn of a new age for the fastidious house head.
“‘The Beginning’ is a song about self-love and knowing that you are great, but at the same time understanding that there is always room for improvement,” says Ekonovah. “I wrote ‘The Beginning’ when COVID lockdowns were starting, and ended up spending the duration of quarantine experimenting with my vocals and songwriting with vulnerable topics. To date, ‘The Beginning’ is still one of my favorites, as it approaches being one-year-old since finishing the track!”
