Rotterdam-based indie-electronic singer-songwriter and producer, Flaws, has released his next single “Quicksand” on bitbird.
“Quicksand” follows “It’s Getting Dark,” along with multiple remixes and covers since San Holo first discovered Flaws a couple of years back, so he’s no stranger to the bitbird community. Yet with each release, fans get more of a glimpse into the talented mind of Flaws.
On the musing and emotional narrative of this new song Flaws shares, “Quicksand is about chasing a thing or a person that you might never be able to find, no matter how hard you try. The element of quicksand symbolizes the feeling of getting stuck in this process of chasing something, preventing you from moving forward and while sinking, losing touch with the person or thing you were chasing.”
The notion of being consumed by something is perfectly mirrored by the track’s deep, crescendoing bass melody which slowly makes itself known throughout the whole song, but then drastically demands your full attention in the chorus. The swift guitar picking and the distant vocals also evoke feelings of vanquish, similar to the feeling of a dream in which you run and run and run but aren’t able to move an inch.
Stay tuned for more to come from Flaws this spring.
