Nova Miller has unveiled her gut-wrenching new single and video, “cold feet,” and announced her upcoming EP sting, out February 11th via 300 Entertainment – pre-save it here.
On “cold feet,” Nova channels her intense, emotional side as she sings about a lover ending things when things got too serious and him getting cold feet. With her powerful five-octave vocal range and vulnerable lyricism, Nova wallows in her heartbreak, questioning if her ex has moved on with someone new and professing that she can’t do the same. Nova wrote “cold feet” to help her navigate an emotional time in her life and to help her sister through a rough breakup of her own. The cinematic music video features a series of flashbacks to the relationship as Nova and her ex-lover pack its remnants.
According to Nova Miller, “‘cold feet’ is one of the most artistically satisfying songs I’ve ever made. I knew from the get-go that this was a very special song. The way I get to use different parts of my voice and play with dynamics feels like a more mature way to approach my musicality, and that’s very very exciting to be able to show people. This song is a fresh start for my growth as an artist and a songwriter. I wrote this as a way to get through a very emotional time for me, I had been crying all through the night before so my feelings were super fresh. At the same time, my sister was going through a very rough breakup that I think I was able to channel into this song. I really hope that people are ready to hear some raw emotion and vocals, I’ve never been more proud of a song.”
As for sting, Nova explains, “I chose to name my EP ‘sting’ to highlight the side of myself I don’t normally show people. I released a lot of uplifting music while going through one of my most emotional years ever, so for this EP I wanted to be honest about my struggles. From opening up about my eating disorders and anxiety to navigating a global pandemic – my heart has been stinging. I’ve documented these experiences into my music and it’s become my most honest work so far.”
