DRAMA‘s newest single “3AM” delivers a Valentine’s dance floor hit for the hopeless romantics ahead of their forthcoming Don’t Wait Up EP, out February 18. Don’t Wait Up is their newest compilation of music to release since their Dance Without Me album in 2020.
DRAMA said of the track, “‘3AM’ is dedicated to the late-night lovers, the ones who may be ashamed to hold hands in public. To us, this song embodies the feeling of being at a party and wanting someone to ask you to dance so that everybody in the room knows that you are together. It’s also about the experience of being single and watching your friends fall in love, and questioning yourself because of it.”
DRAMA will open their EP with newest single, ‘3AM’, a perfect example of the duo’s singular style redefining the modern love-songs with vocalist Via Rosa’s sultry vocals and melancholy lyrics sitting atop producer Na’el Shehade’s funk and groove laden product. The EP then moves on to more familiar tracks like ‘Dark Rain’ channeling throwback synths and lush, futuristic soundscapes while ‘Don’t Hold Back’ shows a darker side of the duo with a brooding, yet undeniably danceable track. The duo rounds out the compilation with three brand new records; Don’t Wait Up EP is guaranteed to stir a surge of nostalgia and dopamine during their American Don’t Wait Up Tour kicking off February 24.
Of the project, DRAMA said, “This project was started during the 2020 quarantine and is by far the fastest body of work we’ve put together. It came from a place of isolation and reflection. The EP represents a very specific moment in time, and we think reflects back a collective feeling that a lot of people were experiencing at once.”
DRAMA have captured ears and hearts, notching up millions of plays for their “happy sad music.” Inspired by some of Shehade’s Chicago house icons like Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, as well as Rosa’s soulful influences like Sade, Brazilian and Afrobeat music, their individual musical upbringing has fostered them into a dynamic duo that has shaped a unique sound that lies at the intersection of electronic music and R&B. Together the duo have notched up over 250+ million plays with their romantic, melancholic dance music.
