Eli Derby has returned with a shiny new offering, aptly titled “Love Song,” just in time for Valentine’s Day. Produced by Marc Lo & Freddy Wexler, the R&B-tinged single spotlights Eli’s pension for addictive melodies and relatable songwriting — creating a tune that is sure to be stuck in the listener’s ear for days to come. Eli paired an equally charming visualizer with the song’s release (directed by Priya Minhas), showcasing him and his on-screen interest as different highschool sweethearts gussying up for “picture day.”
Speaking on the song, Eli shared, “I wrote the song during my very first visit to Los Angeles, it was about a relationship I was in at that time… It was going really well and it inspired me to write a love song that I could connect to, that my friends could connect to. The video mirrors that — I wanted it to be relatable to people my age, we dont all fit in one style. Also shows that love is universal, it has no boundaries or restraints.”
Hailing from PG County, Maryland and now based in Atlanta, GA, Eli Derby broke onto the scene last Fall with debut single “Gaslight.” The song received high acclaim from the likes of Complex, Billboard Uproxx, Okayplayer, VIBE (“…a catchy vibe”)— all praising the track as one of the week’s best R&B releases. Signed to LVRN (home to 6lack and Summer Walker and more), Eli has been busy gaining experience on the live arena performing sessions and sets across the DMV and South (watch his acoustic performance of “Gaslight” here) and ready to release more music in 2022 including a debut project to come this year.. More on that soon!
