Following on from the release of her sophomore album Killing My Mind in November last year, Salt Ashes (aka Veiga Sanchez) has released a remix of the album’s track, “Body Says,” by Manuel Riva.
Already a club ready banger, Manuel Riva has turned “Body Says” into an atmospheric yet pumping and euphoric sounding house track, driven by Giorgio Moroder inspired synthscapes and immersive, airy electronic textures. The song’s invigorating nature draws on the empowering lyrics of the song, which are all about owning your own body and choices, but the inspiration comes from a more poignant place of understanding the struggles women face each time they go on a night out.
Speaking of the song, Salt Ashes said, “I wrote this with my producer Louis, which was a very enlightening experience as we wrote this from a female perspective. It was interesting to see how he understood the struggles women face on a night out without me even saying anything. I want this song to empower people but also just want to get down and fucking dance.”
On the remix, Salt Ashes said, “It’s so great to be working with Manuel Riva again after 5 or so years. I love how Manuel has slowed “Body Says” down yet instilled so much energy into it that it makes you want to dance hard. It’s a vibe.”
Manuel Riva said, “The minute I listened to ‘Body Says,’ I knew I would love to remix it, so when the boys at Radikal Records brought up the subject, it was such an easy decision to make. I was introduced to Salt Ashes years back and have had a thing for her voice since then.”
