Loverground has released his new single, “How U Feel” from upcoming EP, My Love Is True. The EP’s opening track is composed of an airy melody while evoking the troubles of love. Listen to it now below.
Of the song, Loverground’s Kevin Erlicher said, ”How U Feel” was an old beat that I had been saving for a rapper on my hard drive. I decided to have a go at it myself, but since I can’t really rap I went for the high pitched voice at the beginning. I always keep most of the elements of the demo in the final versions, I don’t even re-recorded vocals for the most part because I didn’t want to lose the original feeling. I’d always prioritize rawness and honesty over sound quality or pitch perfection.”
Loverground is the project of multi-instrumentalist Kevin Erlicher. Former leader of the indie band Smooth Ends, the Franco-Argentinian, now based between Barcelona and London, draws his influences in pop, house, and r&b. Music has always been an integral part of his life. At a very young age, he began to explore different sounds and genres of music, both as a listener and as a musician. More recently Kevin Erlicher says he has been influenced by artists like Peggy Gou, Jayda G or even Bradley Zero.
Loverground draws inspiration from elements of his daily life to create haunting lyrics accompanied by melodies that mix electronic music, pop and soul. Captivated by what sound experimentation can bring, he wishes to share and transcribe the personal experiences he has had with music through his original creations.
In this new release, more pop and r&b than his first EP, “Whatever Happens, Happens” released on Majestic Casual, the producer also shows his attachment to the genre of lofi house music. The five tracks that make up this new project bring together dreamy synthesizers and danceable rhythms, with the addition of Kevin Erlicher’s reverberated voice. The multi-faceted producer offers us a musical ensemble that reveals all his creativity. His songs combine the sweaty club atmospheres with the pulsating freshness of London’s teeming streets.
In his texts, he deals with the complexity of relationships that are made and unmade with the wind. He writes about doubt, excitement, sensations that another can provide, creating a suave and enveloping auditory that mirrors the perceptions generated by the attraction between two beings. This EP announces the arrival of a summer under the sign of an audacious Cupid; to listen to without moderation under an amused sun or dimmed lights.
