Los Angeles indie-rock pioneer Day Wave (the project of singer/instrumentalist Jackson Phillips) has announced his upcoming album, Pastlife, out June 24th on [PIAS] Recordings. The announcement arrives alongside the release of the album’s title track, which can be heard now below.

Pastlife that tackles themes of love, loss, and maneuvering life in your 30s. Singles “Where Do You Go” and “Before You Knew” kicked off the project, and now the title track encapsulates the sweet nostalgia of missing someone.

On the single, Jackson shares, “I think of ‘Pastlife’ as the thesis statement for this record, because the overall theme is reminiscing on past chapters in my life. I have so many eras from my past that I miss, and so many friends left behind in those times. I wonder if they ever think of those times the way I do.”

The new single comes equipped with an accompanying video shot and directed by Nikoli Partiyeli. Watch Jackson traipse around sunny Los Angeles as he muses on his many past lives. There’s even a cameo from his very cute cat. Watch it now below.
