57-member avant-experientialists Itchy-O have announced their 3-night Purification Ceremony at Meow Wolf Denver’s Convergence Station/Perplexiplex Theater, June 16-18. The shows are supported by Ritualcravt, Twist + Shout Records and Youth On Record.
In the wake of recent physio,- psycho-, and sociological ills, the sequence is constructed as a cleansing ritual to recenter humanity and drive out evil forces. Each night will feature engineered psychoacoustic arrangements and invites attendees to take part in the interlocking elemental themes of AIR, WATER, and FIRE.
Tickets are available now HERE.
Central to the ceremony, Itchy-O will unveil its new SÖM SÄPTÄLAHN, a massive gamelan-inspired instrument cast in partnership with the Colorado School of Mines.
More than 600 pounds of metal donated from Denver percussionists as part of the group’s Broken Cymbal Drive were melted down to form the mellifluous monstrosity, which introduces a brand new seven-tone musical scale never before utilized in Eastern or Western composition.
Cutting-edge visual production and projection mapping planned within Meow Wolf’s already engulfing event space promises to elicit a synesthetic syncretic ecstasy, opening heretofore unexplored portals and empowering attendees to create space for good health and fortune, both individually and collectively.
Supporting acts for each night at Meow Wolf Denver consists of Denver heavyweights SPELLS (6/16), Don Chicharrón (6/17) and Church Fire (6/18)
