Denver-by-way-of-Seattle-based group, Public Opinion have announced that their new EP, Modern Convenience will be released on May 27th via Convulse Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has released the title track from the EP, which is accompanied by an official music video. The hyper-active stomper splits the difference between hardcore delivery, garage rock swagger, and early 2000s indie hooks.
Co-produced by Ian Shelton and engineer Phil Odom, Modern Convenience combines primal first wave punk with a sense of unabashed catchiness and ends up sounding like the work of a guitar pop band that plays with uncharacteristic ferocity, or perhaps a hardcore band that just can’t help but write pop songs. Lyrically, Public Opinion vocalist/songwriter Kevin Hart explores the endless discord that permeates our everyday lives, particularly with the stressors of the internet so readily available at any moment. The result is a taut 12 minutes of electrifying music that pulls no punches without sacrificing the fun.
Public Opinion will hit the road on a run of Midwest and West Coast tour dates this spring. All tour dates are below.
