After a year-long hiatus, eccentric singer-songwriter, Sharmond is back and better than ever with his new single, “IDK What is Real.” Paying homage to the male pops idols of the early 2000’s such as B2K and Usher, the track is complete with an infectious beat, cinematic strings and soulful, emotional vocals.
“IDK What is Real” was produced by the Billboard-charting producer Andrew Beckner, who has worked with artists such as Iann Dior, Dani Leigh, and K-Pop mega-group NCT. Sharmond and Andrew came together to craft a sound that seems to move the needle on our nostalgic consumption. Filled with early 2000’s inspiration, Sharmond wanted to create a sound that he felt was lost in this current nostalgic resurgence.
Rather than just feeling like a play on something that has already been done, however, “IDK What is Real” feels fresh and ironically (considering the song’s name) very real. Listen to the song now below and expect more from Sharmond soon.
