Boulder non-binary, BIPOC alt-pop artist, Teresa Suydam has released their empowering new single, “This Means War“. The track, which follows their Love Me EP, released earlier this year, finds them shifting gears for a more hard-hitting sound. Through sleek vocal runs, Teresa tells the story of doing what takes to succeed.
“This track pushed me lyrically, rhythmically, and stylistically. It got me out of my comfort zone, and I’m so pleased with the outcome,” Teresa said of the song, “I don’t want to limit myself as an artist… so I’ve been steadily sharpening my skills, while developing new ones.”
Teresa’s music is rooted in their versatile performance experience, being able to reach the most graceful high notes and control strong, emotional low notes, while also being able to hit the dynamic runs and belts of a modern soul artist. Teresa has worked tirelessly to develop their artistry and message in their music and lyrics.
Since 2020, Teresa has been focusing on building their songwriting craft, output, and building a steady following. Teresa has played big virtual events such as Rocky Mountain Virtual, WomxnCrushMusic, and Virtual Pride; as well as in-person shows at the DCPA, Swallow Hill Music, and the Denver Botanic Gardens for their Evenings Al Fresco series two years in a row. In 2021, Teresa was in KTCL’s Top 10 for Hometown for the Holidays, and in 2022 was a Local 303 artist of March, a nominee for the Native American Music Awards (NAMA), and featured in Native Max Magazine.
