Los Angeles singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dan Atta has returned with his new single “Last Call” today via Boom.Records. The song, which touches on the feeling of unrequited love and the power of letting go, is driven by reverb-heavy production and delicate vocals. Listen to it now below.
Speaking on “Last Call,” Dan shared, “This song, generally, is about a phase ending in a relationship and trying to be ok with it and whatever the next phase brings. This was originally written as a slower acoustic thing, but in the studio went for something more driving and hopeful sounding. I really like songs that have sad lyrics but a hopeful sound that almost seems at odds with the lyrics (‘I’m Looking Through You’ by The Beatles, for example). So I was trying to achieve that effect.”
“Last Call” serves as Atta’s first offering of the year and signals an evolution for the rising artist as he delves into more guitar-driven folk music. It finds him departing from the alternative indie-pop sound of previous releases “Fortune Tellers Lie,” “Life Beyond Life,” and 2019’s “Stop When Red Lights Flash,” “Deep Blues,” and “Intellectual Rewind.”
