Fairweather have shared their new single “Control”, taken from their upcoming EP, Deluge, out June 24th via Equal Vision Records. The new track exemplifies the band’s ability to create the kind of atmosphere that can fully engage the listener and at the same time slowly build a current of tension just below the surface. Listen to it now below.
Vocalist Jay Littleton said of the new song, “‘Control’ is about the rules and rituals that we assign ourselves to protect us and the ones we love. When so much of life is uncertain and out of our hands, we take hold of the things we can affect. We do these things to help maintain the illusion of control and to fight the feeling of helplessness.”
Recorded at guitarist Ben Green’s Washington D.C. studio, Ivakota, and partially at Littleton’s studio in Houston, Deluge is Fairweather’s first new music since their self-titled album in 2014. The four songs sprawl with lush arrangements and a melodic tension that push from the boundaries of their lengthy album catalog. Fans can pre-order the album now HERE.
In support of the upcoming release, Fairweather has also announced a release show for Deluge at The Black Cat in Washington D.C. on June 24th.
