Rising North Carolina rapper YSB Tril has released his vulnerable new single, “Lost” today via LISTEN TO THE KIDS/Geffen Records. The emotive, heartfelt song showcases Tril’s entrancing melodic abilities and gives yet another example of his ability to tap into his most personal feelings and infuse them with pop appeal. Listen to it now below.
“Lost” is the latest in a string of magnetic cuts that have quickly made Tril one of the most talked-about newcomers in rap. Hailing from Clayton, North Carolina, a small town near Charlotte, Tril broke out in 2021 with his debut full-length project, the propulsive HOTSHOT. Across that record’s 13 songs, Tril flexed his now-signature combination of nimble rapping and the kind of voice that is rich and distinct enough to hang with the best singers of the moment.
Tril took his career to a new level earlier this year with STARSTRUCK 2, an eight-song mixtape that is even more vibrant and unforgettable than what came before it. He has earned praise from publications including Lyrical Lemonade, Respect magazine, and Rap Up, and has seen his songs integrated into the world of sports: “Ain’t The Same” was used by the NBA and Toronto Raptors before regular-season tip-offs, and “Count Me In” was included in EA Sports’ Madden NFL 22 video game. If “Lost” is any indication, YSB Tril’s emotional transparency and knack for unforgettable hooks will make him inescapable for years to come.
