beabadoobee has released “10:36”, the second single from her upcoming sophomore album, Beatopia, out July 15 via Dirty Hit. The song finds Bea unpacking her personal relationships and details her dependency on human contact to get to sleep, named for the time at night that it was finished. Listen to it now below.
“‘10:36’ was written after Fake It Flowers and just before Our Extended Play, and I had envisioned it to be on that EP, but I was just sitting on that riff for ages and then I properly made a demo during lockdown,” shares beabadoobee on the single. “It was called ‘10:36’ because that was the time I finished writing it. It’s basically about how I have this weird dependency on human contact to sleep”
Beatopia is available to pre-order now HERE. The album is a fantastical yet deeply personal world that was formed in the imagination of a 7-year-old beabadoobee and has been carried with her ever since. Beatopia houses Bea’s most impressive work to date and marks a huge progression as she traverses fuzzy rock, classic singer-songwriter, psychedelia, midwest emo, and outright pop, while remaining undeniably herself throughout.
Gearing up to play U.S. festivals including Newport Folk Festival, beabadoobee will also join the east coast leg of Bleachers’ tour which will include a performance at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall. Tickets are available HERE.
