Tasman Keith and Jessica Mauboy have released their new collaboration, “HEAVEN WITH U“, following their ARIA and APRA Award nominated release, “First Nation” with Midnight Oil. The track is taken from Tasman Keith’s upcoming album, A COLOUR UNDONE, which is out July 8th. The album is available for pre-order now HERE.
“‘HEAVEN WITH U’ was a song that I wrote to myself, a song about finding bliss and enlightenment internally, which in turn will have you see it in others. It’s a love song unto oneself, whilst at the same time being a song you can dedicate to anybody you truly find heaven in,” Tasman Keith explained of the song.
In Jessica’s words, “Tasman is evolutionary when it comes to how we see and feel about Australian music. He is an incredibly talented artist and creator and I’m so proud to be able work with him.”
At the risk of simplifying the significance of rapper Tasman Keith’s rise in his home country of Australia: his presence as a First Nations person of color in a mainly white Hip Hop scene is palpable; necessary. Over the last few years, Tasman has swept Australian press with rave reviews including The Guardian, NME, Complex, Rolling Stone, triple j, and more, while also making a splash worldwide with early fans at WNYC, Consequence, COLORS, Billboard, among others. On A Colour Undone (with contributions from Genesis Owusu, Jessica Mauboy (out today), Kwame, Thandi Phoenix and Phil Fresh), Tasman ruminates on love, loss, trauma, healing, and ego. As dexterous, clever, and linguistically adventurous as it is emotionally resonant, his message & music are quickly making him an essential artist to watch.
