LA artist and producer Amber Ryann has released her new single, “Liquid Courage”, taken from her upcoming album, expected later this year. The track arrives alongside a surreal and dreamlike music video, which follows Amber in the aftermath of a car crash. Watch it now below.
“‘Liquid Courage’ is all about the false sense of overconfidence and temptation that comes along with drunk encounters and late-night rendezvous,” explains Amber. “This track is as cinematic as it is mysterious and alluring.”
Amber Ryann discovered music as a source of comfort when she was young, and as she got older she saw creating her own music as an opportunity to try to make sense of the world around her. Her music’s originality and diversity are derived from multiple sources – her father who was a hip-hop producer, her mother who was a fan of late 90’s R&B and hip-hop music, and the fast-emerging early 2000’s emo, hardcore, and alternative rock scenes that captured her attention as a teenager. Her experiences as part of the LGBTQ community also greatly influence her writing. Amber’s broad taste in music and her willingness to share her inner self with complete honesty have truly set her apart from her peers as an artist.
Based in Los Angeles, Amber Ryann is redefining what it means to be a “triple threat,” taking the emerging artist game by storm with full control over her creative output. Not only a singer, songwriter, and producer, Amber is also responsible for her merch design, filming her own media content, directing and editing her music videos, and nearly all of the other content that comes out of her brand. Her music has been featured across many of Spotify’s editorial playlists like Fresh Finds, Alternative Hip-Hop, SALT, and ‘fit check, and she has been championed by outlets like OnesToWatch, Earmilk, and Lyrical Lemonade.
Amber has also been cultivating a platform of other queer BIPOC fans as well as fellow up-and-coming artists, called Underrated Artist Season. “Underrated Artist Season” is a community-driven online platform, stream, playlist, and independent imprint. At the beginning of 2022, what seemingly was Amber Ryann’s idea to hop on TikTok live to discover some artists under the radar became the very spark of a much larger movement. Ryann quickly realized that there was no lack of demand for music listeners that wanted to discover artists that were genuinely unheard of but a change that needed to be made in terms of visibility and accessibility. What makes UAS so unique is that the entire platform is curated by those consuming the music, actual music listeners. Not just one biased curator or a team of biased curators. If 2020 with the explosion of TikTok taught us anything it is that music listeners truly have the power to define what is hot and they feel more empowered by discovering and supporting new artists more than ever. UAS embodies a transparency and openness in the industry that artists and music listeners alike would love to see more often.
