Singer-songwriter/producer Richie Quake has released his debut album I Want Some! via Mass Appeal today. Deeply ingrained in the creative scene of his Lower East Side neighborhood, this project functions as a portrait of creative collaboration and pulling up your community. Listen to the album now below.
Richie was heavily influenced by Nan Goldin’s book The Ballad of Sexual Dependency while creating I Want Some!. To quote the book, he said, “I want to show exactly what my world looks like, without glamorization, without glorification. This is not a bleak world, but one in which there is an awareness of pain, a quality of introspection.”
I Want Some! is a window into a day in the life of Richie – without over-embellishing anything or cleaning up any of the stains. With the privilege of helping lead the way for the new generation of the indie scene, Richie has called together quite the roster of collaborators for this project. Influence from Anna Shoemaker, Morning Silk, Middle Part, Blonder, Sur Back, Andreas Stavropolis and Tabitha Aryn Ellin are woven into the fabric of I Want Some! Everything Richie does is about community, and his debut body of work is no exception.
In celebration of the release, Richie will be hosting an album release party at Brooklyn, NY’s Baby’s All Right on July 20th, which also marks his first ever headline show, in none other than the city that shaped him. Fans can expect a turnout of Richie’s close collaborators, as well as a performance by Beau. Tickets for the release party show are available HERE.
