Brooklyn based singer, songwriter and producer Harrison Lipton has unveiled his soulful, electric new single “Speedracer” featuring Ivy Sole and Hadji Gaviota. The bittersweet track finds Lipton reminiscing on the heartbreaking end to a meaningful romance over warm synths, heavy basslines and R&B undertones, all of which support his unique, captivating vocal dexterity. Written amidst the confines of lockdown, the self-produced track touches on Lipton’s deep desire to get away and drive towards a sense of freedom. Listen to it now below.
The official video for “Speedracer” combines the creative minds of Lipton himself alongside director Genevieve Andrews, producer Claire Demere, and Jake DeNicola. Shot in NYC, the floral-infused visual beautifully communicates the desolate feelings following the breakdown of a relationship, with guest appearances from both featured artists. The cinematic charm of Lipton and Andrews derived from their own romantic past– becoming a symbol of their love and heartbreak in and of itself.
On the inspiration behind “Speedracer”, Lipton said, “How do I heal from a relationship that gave me the highest highs and the lowest lows? How do I sleep at night when I realize I’m my own worst enemy? How do I learn to let go of something that isn’t healthy for me anymore, but I still crave it with every piece of my heart? These are the questions rattling around in my head when sleep doesn’t come easy and I have a pit in my chest, replaying fractured memories, and I turn to music to try to make sense of it all.”
Lipton will perform his debut headlining show at Baby’s All Right in NYC July 1st.
