LOKRE Shares New Single, “Sun Don’t Set”

Toronto-based R&B singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist LOKRE has released the performance video for her new single, “Sun Don’t Set“. Taken from her forthcoming debut album, ELIZABETH (named after her grandmother), “Sun Don’t Set” is a powerful, transformative track that is driven by confident, emotive vocals and simplistic guitar.

The song, which marks LOKRE’s first new music in two years, is accompanied by a live performance video directed by long-time collaborator and choreographer Caroline Torti filmed in the stunning countryside close to Toronto. Watch it now below.

On the new single, LOKRE says, “‘Sun Don’t Set’ is an affirmation to press on in the face of self-doubt. The lyrics serve as a much-needed reminder, a divine gift even, to encourage me to see the big picture and the temporary nature of pain. No matter how grey the sky, I can trust that the sun is there… even if I can’t see it. That’s the kind of faith I think life demands.”

Of the video, she added, “It was important to me to make the visual for this song feel as organic as possible, this is why we chose to record the song as a live performance set in natural elements. My dad and I built the foundation for the square platform before he assembled it with my creative director Erika on set, there’s always that DIY aspect involved.”
