Hyperpunk favorites, poptropicaslutz! have released their energetic new single, “something about the sky”. Carried by driving drums and punchy guitar, the track continues to dive into the duo’s evolving sound, delivering something that is perfect for summer. Listen to it now below.
“The song came to me one night when we were driving and an insane storm came out of nowhere,” recalls member Christian Cicillia. “I thought it was trippy how when we’d drive under a bridge, there would be a fleeting moment of peace, and complete silence while we were shielded from the rain.” This juxtaposition is certainly present within the track as it gently builds to the first verse, subsequently peppered with explosive moments of raw expression.
Produced by Gen Z duo Slaying Ibis x Yeezo and mixed by Matt Malpass (Blink-182, MGK, Trippie Redd), this addition to the duo’s collection of recent releases (including an EP and two singles over just 2 months) further expands upon their eclectic musical identity—a forward-facing blend of emo inspiration colliding with uniquely Gen Z experiences. With this release, the prolific Long Island duo show an ever-increasing amount of momentum, continually honing their talents to deliver one intoxicating track after another to their devoted fanbase.
They are currently wrapping up the second leg of tour, “just in case the tour never ends” which saw a sold-out date in D.C. this past spring. Tickets for their last two shows in Dallas and Los Angeles can be found HERE.
