Filipino-American singer-songwriter, producer, artist, and multi-hyphenate creative Lecx Stacy has returned with “Haunted Be Thy“, his first single of the year. The song arrives alongside the self-directed, hazy and gritty visualizer. Watch it now below.
The release fuses shoegaze, drum ‘n’ bass, hardcore, and industrial elements. It finds Lecx exploring his roots as he confronts his Catholic upbringing via a mystical lens. The single continues to expand on Lecx’s ethos of truth and self-identity, unpacking the internal anxieties that stem from being perceived, juxtaposed with the double-edged pressures of being an artist and the mental health struggles one deals with when friendships fall apart.
Speaking on the track, Lecx shares, “I repurposed the Lord’s Prayer, and this song is my prayer to quell my inner fears and anxieties.”
Lecx Stacy is one of our generation’s leading new voices; a first-generation American, Lecx is no stranger to the trials and tribulations of the immigrant experience. Last year’s debut album Bundok dove deep into his culture while exploring the complexity of colonialism, colorism, and ethnic identity within the Filipino community. The album garnered press praise from Dazed Magazine, Alternative Press, I-D, and more.
A true creative, Lecx continues to experiment with his music and production, which has led to collaborations and co-signs with a new wave of artists such as Isabella Lovestory, Jean Dawson, Victor Internet, Binki, and Rei Brown. Lecx continues to carve his lane with his unique genre-bending production and perspective. Lecx Stacy espouses an intentional message of self-discovery and makes music that resonates with listeners straddling multiple cultures and worlds.
