Singer/songwriter, John K has released his addictive new single, “Guitars and Drugs” today. Arriving on the heels of his tour dates with OneRepublic, the track is the first taste of his upcoming new project. Watch the accompanying music video now below.
On the track, whistles wrap around a laidback beat as the guitar strums a smooth and slick riff. Right off the bat, he lays down an instantly irresistible and endlessly repeatable refrain, “We go together like peace and love, windshields and bugs, like guitars and drugs.” Soon after, he predicts, “If we ever break up, think the world would fall apart.” In the black mirror-esque accompanying visual directed by frequent collaborator Erik Rojas [Jessie J, Dillon Frances], John K finds himself attempting to build domestic bliss with an AI femme fatale. It all comes to head with a surprise ending that leaves the viewer wondering if perfection is just fantasy.
