Florida indie rock band, The Forum have released “Honeypace“, their first new single of 2022. The emotional new track takes listeners through the relatability of a strained relationship and the bittersweet triumph of moving on. Listen to it now below.
A trio of releases across 2021 allowed The Forum to rise back to regional prominence as nationwide touring became the norm once more. Taking their polished new setlist on the road throughout the past fall and spring seasons, the band found inspiration in the people, artists, venues, and cities along the way. This newfound excitement was quickly converted to extensive writing time, studio sessions, and revision meetings throughout summer of 2022. As the heat waves of summer simmer to a close, The Forum is just heating up, with releases planned throughout the rest of the calendar year to deliver to eager supporters old and new. In the band’s eyes, there was no better place to start than the experimental “Honeypace.”
Taking inspiration from 1980s synth-pop legends Toto and Tears for Fears, The Forum combined their signature guitar rhythms to create a felicitous and full soundscape on “Honeypace” that is reminiscent of a coming-of-age film’s credit sequence. The song’s inception was anything but familiar to the band, whose process began in November and was revisited on a weekly basis before the song’s recording in the spring and summer.
The finishing touches of engineer David Bell (Pulp Arts) and mixing artist Andrew Young serve to add a potency to The Forum’s first self-produced track since their early college demos. Taking creative control without outside production influence served as a self-imposed challenge to the band – one they believe they overcame with flying colors and a newfound appreciation for isolated collaboration.
