Genre-bending duo, lil cat have released their new single, “Fuck You Up” today. The honest, vulnerable and catchy as hell track serves as an anti fuck boy anthem, which warns listeners to stay away from someone who inevitably hurt them. Listen to it now below.
Of the song, the duo – Cathrine van Leeuwen and Mads Vadsager – said, “‘Fuck You Up’ is about falling for someone that crushes hearts without as much as batting an eyelid. It’s our way to back up all those who have fallen for a heartbreaker– remind them how they’re not the problem.”
lil cat has released two EPs since they began making music; their debut EP, “tunes” followed by their sophomore EP, “czech new wave.” Cathrine and Mads are unstoppable when it comes to writing music, and the songs on their forthcoming debut album are hand-picked from an enormous bunch of demos. Over the past two years in quarantine, they have dedicated themselves to their craft, making several tracks and collaborating with artists like Reveal Party, Kamma, and Liberty, as well as songwriters from all over Scandinavia.
With the songs on their debut album, lil cat is somewhere in between hopeful and confident– hoping their songs might encourage others to feel confident taking on the role of a sensitive in-betweener.
