Danish singer-songwriter Kleo is reminding listeners to seize the day and embrace the world around them with her new single, “Beautiful Life“. The track is an invitation to believe in the world as something beautiful, and in the ability to bring love to those around you, even when it seems impossible. Listen to the song now below.
“For me, it’s about being open and holding on to the feeling of happiness I feel in the present moment,” Kleo shares. “For example, the feeling I get when I meditate, or when I’m completely head over heels in love with someone. I woke up one morning and thought: This is the canvas – it’s the backdrop for life itself. And not days of clouds and hurricanes. If I can wake up in the morning and feel bliss, then it must be reality itself.”
The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Stine Emil Thorbøll, which – inspired by pop cultural trends from the 90s – shows Kleo dancing blissfully with actor Ask Berntsen. Here, time seems to stand still, and euphoria oozes out like a Dali melted clock in motion.
“Beautiful Life” follows Kleo’s debut single “Miss You,” an alt-pop song full of longing, where a grandiose soundscape of dreamy guitars and synths over an uptempo, persistent beats tells the story of how grief and loss leave bleeding hearts. On “Miss You,” Kleo’s velvety, honest and vulnerable voice sings about longing and having memories haunt you like a film on the retina. “Miss You” is Kleo’s message to see your own reality from a bigger perspective – about growing as a human being, and decorating the dark room of grief with objects that let the light back in. In essence, a hymn to dreams and hope.
